Sessions

Sessions

We want your child to feel happy and safe with us. To make sure that this is the case, our staff will work with you to decide on how to help your child to settle into the setting. Each session will be run by at least three members of staff. We meet minimum staff/child ratios in all sessions. This means that there is at least one adult for every four two year olds, and at least one adult for every eight three or four year olds.

There is a simple routine within each session so that children can play on their own or with friends, work on a range of activities, be active, eat a healthy snack and listen to stories. The children are helped and encouraged to take part in adult-led small and large group activities, which introduce them to new experiences and help them to gain new skills, as well as helping them to learn to work with others. The use of space and free-flow arrangement has been carefully planned to make sure that each child has access to quality and engaging resources, both inside and outside, on a daily basis. Outdoor activities contribute to children's health, their physical development and their knowledge of the world around them. We have recently extended our woodland area to include this resource in our free flow garden, whilst also being able to provide specific outdoor learning opportunities. This has been a huge success with the children and parents.

OUR WOODLAND AREA

Outdoor activities contribute to children's health, their physical development and their knowledge of the world around them. We have recently extended our woodland area to include this resource in our free flow garden, whilst also being able to provide specific outdoor learning opportunities. This has been a huge success with the children and parents. In the next few months we are developing this area with new mud-kitchens and a plantation garden so the children can sow their own seeds and observe the wonders of nature.

SNACKS / LUNCH TIME

We make snacks and meals a social time at which children and adults eat together. We plan the menus for snacks so that they provide the children with healthy and nutritious food. Every day there is fresh water and milk on offer. The children are encouraged to recognise various foods from different cultures, discover new tastes and count them out and help themselves. A fresh fruit bowl is always available at snack time.

We can cater for particular dietary requirements or food allergies and we have a strict NO NUT policy.

UNIFORM

The children and staff are expected to wear the Pre-School uniform as this gives them a sense of belonging and prepares them for school.  This can be ordered at the time of registering. Please click on the uniform order form to view the options and speak to a member of staff for their next order date.

We provide protective clothing for the children when they play with messy activities. We encourage children to gain the skills that help them to be independent and look after themselves. These include taking themselves to the toilet and taking off, and putting on, outdoor clothes.
